Emergency Water Assistance to Drought Affected Communities in the West Bank
CARE WBG has received funding from the European Commission's Directorate General for Humanitarian Aid to implement the “Emergency Water Assistance in the West Bank” project in ten Palestinian communities in Bethlehem Governorate.
The overall goal of this project is to mitigate the impact of the drought affecting several of the most vulnerable communities in the West Bank by rehabilitating 50 communal water cisterns, constructing 60 household water cisterns, and distributing drinking water for 100 households. Without help the people living in these areas now lack water to drink, for bathing, or for their livestock.
The targeted communities are Ar Rawa’in, Al 'Azazima, 'Arab ar Rashayida, Kisan, Al Maniya, Za'tara, Tuqu’, Ash Shawawra, Dar Salah and Al 'Ubeidiya. By the end of the project approximately 12,675 people will have benefitted from the intervention.
CARE is working in coordination with the Ministry of Agriculture sub-office in Bethlehem and the municipal councils.
