Emergency Water Supply and Sanitation Assistance in the
Occupied Palestinian Territories (Water 9)
The project aims to ensure Palestinian communities in the West Bank and Gaza can access safe water and sanitation facilities. The project also raises awareness on water management.
West Bank
The project is implemented in the communities of Ajja, Al Attara, Arraba, Attil, Beit Lid, Bizzariya, Burqa, Qaffin, Ramin, Saffarin, Sanur, and Silat Al-Dhahr.
Specific activities include: constructing new household water cisterns in Al-Attara and Saffarin; rehabilitating and expanding water networks where there is no access in Ajja, Arraba, Attil, Beit Lid, Bizzariya, Burqa, Ramin, Sanur and Silat adh Dhahr; installing a booster pump and a balance tank in Silat Al-Dahr; rehabilitating the Qaffin water well that serves Qaffin, Akkaba and Dhahr Al-Abed communities; constructing new school sanitary units in Ramin and Arraba, and rehabilitating a sanitary unit in Beit Lid.
Gaza Strip
The project is being implemented in Wadi Al Salqa, Rafah, and Al-Naser.
Specific activities include: connecting the existing well to the network; replacing an old network in Wadi Al-Salqa; constructing a water pump station in Rafah; a water carrier in Rafah; and a water reservoir in El Naser.
Beneficiaries
Over 36,000 people benefit from the project (20,000 in the West Bank and 16,000 in Gaza).
