As part of AusAid’s Australian Middle East NGO Cooperative Agreement, CARE West Bank and Gaza will implement a new project on “Livelihood Improvement in the Occupied Palestinian Territories.” The new project, known as LIOPT, was designed by CARE West Bank and Gaza, CARE Australia, and project partners: the Applied Research Institute, Jerusalem (ARIJ); and the Economic and Social Development Center (ESDC). CARE will implement the LIOPT project in partnership with ARIJ and ESDC. LIOPT will seek to improve the living conditions of Palestinians in nine communities in the Jenin and Tubas districts of the West Bank. The direct beneficiaries are approximately 3,000 persons in 525 poor and marginalized households. The total estimated indirect beneficiaries are 30,402 persons, the residents of the targeted villages. The aim of the project is contribute to the sustainable livelihood security of Palestinian communities in Jenin and Tubas districts by improving food security, income opportunities, and community resilience in a way that supports equal participation of women.
