CARE is Developing the Capacity of Civil Society in Gaza
to Respond to Humanitarian Crises

Gaza. PNN. CARE International in the West Bank and Gaza is implementing Tazeez project, that will strengthen the capacity of civil society organizations in the Gaza Strip to respond to the humanitarian crisis. The NGOs will be strengthened in the fields of management, program delivery, human resources, external relations, and finance. A consultant in mapping and evaluation has been appointed, and a survey of 100 questions will be the basis for gathering and analyzing data. Meetings will take place with civil society organizations over the period of 25 days. Once the results are analyzed, individual meetings will take place with each organization to identify ways they can raise their skills and capacity.

10 civil society organizations in the Gaza Strip are participating in Tazeez project; they are Al-Mizan Center for Human Rights, Palestinian Center for Human Rights, Women’s Affairs Technical Committee; Women’s Affairs Center, Society Voice, Save the Children – Palestine, Culture and Free Thought Society, Human Development Society, Palestinian Center for Agricultural Development, and Agricultural Relief.

Tazeez project is funded by the Ford Foundation, and it will last from 1 June 2007 – 31 May 2009.
