CARE Delegation Meets Minister of Agriculture

Ramallah. Al-Hayat Al-Jadida. A delegation from CARE met Dr. Mahmoud Al-Habbash in the Ministry in Ramallah, in order to coordinate and work together and to help Palestinian farmers.

In attendance were Dr. Mohammad Almbaid, Assistant Country Director; Dr. Hisham Sawaftah, Field Operations Manager in the Jenin Office, responsible for the water and food security projects; in addition to Jabr Qdeih, Secretary General of the General Union of Palestinian Farmers and Cooperatives.

The Minister noted the possibilities for joint cooperation, and he said that assistance must be offered based on clear and transparent criteria that helps small farmers. Dr. Hisham Sawaftah described the food security and water projects implemented by CARE, and Dr. Mohammad Almbaid described the work of CARE International in the Palestinian areas.

All agreed to strengthen cooperation and communication, so as to move from offering humanitarian assistance to the field to sustainable development and partnership with the local community.
