CARE Completes Rehabilitation of Water Well in Al-Nazleh Al-Garbiyeh in Tulkarem
27 June 2006.
CARE West Bank and Gaza completed rehabilitation of the water well in Al-Nazleh Al-Garbiyeh in Tulkarem in the West Bank, as part of the emergency project to supply water in the West Bank and Gaza. Funding was provided by the European Commission’s Directorate General for Humanitarian Aid.
Rehabilitation of the water well comes as continuation of a previous phase that included complete change in the main parts of the well’s system of operations. Also, a new electrical system is now installed instead of the diesel system. Rehabilitation works will improve the well’s efficiency, increase productivity, and decrease operating cost.
The rehabilitated well will serve drinking purposes and irrigation. It will benefit the 2,000 residents of Al-Nazleh Al-Garbiyeh, in addition to 200 farmers that cultivate more than 1,000 dunums.
