CARE International West Bank & Gaza
Human Resources Philosophy

CARE's mission is to serve individuals and families in the poorest communities in the world. Drawing strength from our global diversity, resources and experience, we promote innovative solutions and are advocates for global responsibility. Guided by the aspirations of local communities, we pursue our mission with both excellence and compassion because the people we serve deserve nothing less.

Employers of Choice

CARE International accomplishes its mission through the combined efforts of its most important asset, staff, whose work is guided by CARE's program principles: promote empowerment, work in partnership with others, ensure accountability, address discrimination, promote non-violent resolution of conflicts and seek sustainable results. Our staff are employed by various national members and country offices within CARE International.

Recognizing that our employees are our most important assets and that each employing CARE office strives to be an employer of choice, within their local context and market, ensures that we attract and retain the best staff.

CARE's Commitment to its Employees

CARE commits that in its dealings with staff it will deal fairly, openly and transparently. CARE is committed to respecting the interests of those from different cultural backgrounds and with different belief systems and worldviews. To ensure that our employees are treated fairly, honestly, justly, respectfully and with dignity, CARE International in the Middle East and Eastern Europe Region is committed to:

  • Equipping staff with relevant job descriptions
  • Updating and disseminating human resource policies and procedures to staff
  • Providing regular, objective and standardized performance appraisals
  • Ensuring employees have access to senior management to work through problems/issues
  • Providing training when appropriate
  • Providing opportunities for professional development
  • Treating staff consistently with regard to the employing CARE office's policies and procedures
  • Compensating staff fairly
  • Providing, when appropriate, opportunities for career advancement.
Employee's Commitment to CARE

Each employee has a vital role to play in meeting the needs of the people we serve and there must be mutual commitment between staff and the organization. Each employee holds himself or herself accountable to enact behaviors consistent with CARE International's vision, mission and program principles by committing to:

  • Setting high standards of performance for self and others
  • Adhering to CARE's code of conduct and the ethical principles inherent to CARE
  • Working effectively and cooperatively with others towards shared goals, and establishing and maintaining principled centered relationships
  • Dealing with co-workers, partners and the people we serve in an open and trustworthy manner
  • Behaving in a manner that reflects a true belief in and appreciation for the dignity, contribution and potential of all human beings
  • Valuing and respecting each individual's unique qualities, his or her background, race, culture, age, gender, physical challenge, values, lifestyle, perspectives or interests.
